Yahoo! has resorted to Marissa Mayer to exploit her Google experience to revive the struggling company. Google Vice President Marissa Mayer has joined Yahoo! as the CEO after working with Google for past 13 years. However, she has no professional experience of leading a company. And the whirlwind of the news continues to revolve around her as Marissa Mayer is also announced pregnant. She is reportedly expecting a baby boy on October 7, 2012, the news that she broke to Fortune.

“He’s super-active. He moves around a lot. My doctor says that he takes after his parents.”

Marissa Mayer said. She has also recently joined the board of Wal-Mart Stores Inc.

Marissa Mayer – the new CEO of Yahoo!

Yahoo! recruiter approached Marissa Mayer for the first time on June 18, 2012 knowing that she is expecting a baby in a few months. Mayer told Yahoo! board about her pregnancy. But, her pregnancy has not been an issue to the board. Apparently, her appointment as the new CEO of Yahoo! suggests a radical change in Yahoo!’s working environment which was little considerate towards women expecting children and working mothers at the company, according to AllThingsD.

With her newly acquired CEO position at Yahoo!, Marissa Mayer now joins the league of female CEOs of Silicon Valley. Marissa Mayer has also expressed her gratitude to Yahoo!’s board as she told to Fortune that Yahoo! board members’ actions and thinking have “showed their evolved thinking.” Further, board members have also plans to move its September board meeting in Sunnyvale, California from the usual New York location to accommodate with Meyer as she will be working throughout her maternity leave from her San Francisco, California. David Filo, the co-founder of Yahoo! has announced that consider Marissa Mayer as a leader in the product design and user experience. He continues saying, “I look forward to working with her to enhance Yahoo’s product offerings”

Marissa Mayer’s Google Experience

Marissa Mayer leads the product management team of Google as a vice president. Marissa Mayer is the employee number 20 of Google and she became the first female engineer of the league there. She has 13 years long experience in Google and through her tenure with Google, she has contributed to prominent product development projects of Google including the clean white user interface of Google Search that Google still maintains today. Along with Google Search, she has also contributed in the development of other major Google products like Gmail, Google Images, Google Earth, Google Maps, Google Maps for Mobile, and Google News. Marissa Mayer has resigned from Google over a telephonic conversation on Monday afternoon. She is commencing with her CEO position at Yahoo! on Tuesday, July 17, 2012.

Eric Schmidt, the executive chairman of Google said about Yahoo!’s hiring of Marissa Mayer as a “real win” for the company and also “It’s a loss for Google.”
